What drives work in the Synology DS923+?
The DS923+ is a four-bay NAS taking four 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch SATA drives plus two M.2 NVMe slots, with an optional 10GbE upgrade. Use any CMR NAS drive: WD Red Plus/Pro, IronWolf, Toshiba N300. It pre-dates the 2025 drive policy, so third-party drives are unrestricted.

The Synology DS923+ is a four-bay NAS. It takes four 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch SATA drives, has two M.2 2280 NVMe slots, and accepts an optional 10GbE network card, so it can actually use fast storage.
Drive-compatibility policy for this model
The DS923+ pre-dates the 2025 drive policy and never required Synology-listed drives. Any third-party CMR NAS drive works without restriction; the compatibility list is advisory.
