Owen Nakamura is technical editor at nasdrives.ca and handles data checking. He makes sure the core figures in the database (bays, maximum capacity, RAM type and slots, supported RAID types, recording method (CMR or SMR) and workload ratings) match the manufacturers' public datasheets and knowledge bases. A drive whose recording method cannot be established does not appear in the CMR tables.

He also watches the Amazon.ca price sync: prices and availability are reconciled every six hours, and he checks that timestamps carry through correctly and that outliers are recognized as a bundle or a marketplace listing rather than the bare product. The note 'Data checked by Owen Nakamura' on the calculator and model pages stands for that number base: better to label a figure an estimate than to fake precision. Each model's compatibility facts carry the maker's page and the date it was read, and the compatibility checks run as automated tests before every release; the site's methodology page describes both.

Where a spec cannot be sourced, it is left out rather than guessed.
