Questions about 6 & 8-Bay NAS deals
Is a 6-bay NAS worth it over a 4-bay?
If you will outgrow four drives within a few years, yes: adding bays later means a new NAS or an expansion unit. RAID 6 across six drives keeps four drives of capacity and survives two failures.
What runs on the DXP6800 Pro's Core i5?
Its Intel Core i5-1235U handles several 4K Plex transcodes, Docker stacks and a couple of virtual machines, with two 10GbE ports.
Is the DS1525+ included as a 6-bay?
It has five bays, and we list it here as the nearest Synology alternative to the six-bay class.
Do eight-bay all-SSD units use hard drives?
The TerraMaster F8 SSD Plus takes M.2 SSDs, not 3.5-inch drives, per its Amazon.ca listing. It trades capacity per dollar for silence and speed.
