What can the DH2300 run?

On its Rockchip RK3576, ARM 8-core (Cortex-A72 and A53) with 4 GB, the sweet spot is storage and backups. It cannot run Jellyfin, Immich, Home Assistant and more.
The cheapest NASync model and deliberately lean: 1-gigabit networking, 4 GB of soldered RAM, no Docker. Watch out for reviews that quote RK3588C, 8 GB and 2.5GbE: those are the DH4300 Plus specs, not the DH2300.

App by app on the DH2300
Plex
We could not confirm a Plex package for UGOS Pro on the DH2300, and UGREEN removed Docker on this model, so Plex is not a confirmed fit. UGREEN's built-in media app streams files your TVs and phones already play over 1 × 1GbE.
Jellyfin
Jellyfin runs in Docker, and the DH2300's UGOS Pro has no container platform, so it is not a fit here: UGREEN's built-in media app is the media route on this model.
Immich
Immich is a multi-container Docker stack, and the DH2300 has no container platform in UGOS Pro, so it is off the table: use UGREEN's own photo app instead.
Home Assistant
Home Assistant is light, but the DH2300 has neither Docker nor VM support in UGOS Pro, so neither install path works cleanly: a small always-on mini-PC is the usual host instead.
Nextcloud
Nextcloud needs the container platform the DH2300's UGOS Pro lacks. For private file sync on this model, UGREEN's built-in apps are the practical choice.
Frigate
Frigate decodes every camera stream continuously and detects on each frame: work the DH2300's Rockchip RK3576, ARM 8-core (Cortex-A72 and A53) cannot shoulder (ARM, no hardware acceleration). This is not the box for Frigate.
Pi-hole / AdGuard Home
Pi-hole is featherweight, but it still needs the container platform the DH2300's UGOS Pro does not provide. On this model, network-wide DNS blocking is a job for a Raspberry Pi instead.
Paperless-ngx
Paperless-ngx is a Docker stack the DH2300 cannot host: no container platform in UGOS Pro. A model with Docker is needed for a searchable paper archive.
Vaultwarden
Vaultwarden is tiny but still needs Docker, which the DH2300's UGOS Pro does not offer. Host your password vault on a model with a container platform.
Minecraft server
A Minecraft world wants RAM and a fast CPU core; the DH2300 has no container platform in UGOS Pro to run it, so host it elsewhere.
Docker (general)
The DH2300's UGOS Pro has no container platform, so Docker apps are simply unavailable: the single biggest limit on what this ARM model can run.
Virtual machines
Virtual machines need x86 hardware virtualization; the DH2300's Rockchip RK3576, ARM 8-core (Cortex-A72 and A53) is ARM, so it cannot run a VM at all. For a Windows or Linux guest you need an Intel or AMD model.
Surveillance recording
We could not confirm a camera-recording app for UGOS Pro on the DH2300, and an NVR in Docker is not an option because UGREEN removed Docker on this model, so surveillance recording is not a confirmed fit. A model with a documented NVR app, or a dedicated NVR, is the safer choice for cameras.
Time Machine / backup target
Like every NAS, the DH2300 is an excellent Time Machine and backup target over SMB: set a per-user quota so backups do not fill its 2 bays. With 1 × 1GbE it soaks up a household's Macs and PCs effortlessly.
Local AI on the DH2300
Llama 3.1 8B does not fit on the DH2300: it needs about 5.9 GB with a 4k conversation, and the box tops out at 4 GB. Only the small 3B to 4B models are realistic here.
Speed on a chatbot is set by memory bandwidth, and that is the number missing here: the Rockchip RK3576's memory speed is not published by UGREEN or the chip maker.
As shipped, no model in our list fits the DH2300 comfortably. The memory is soldered, so the only real upgrade for local AI is a stronger box.
For AI photo search on the DH2300: only with AI search turned off (4 GB RAM ceiling; Immich wants 6 GB+). For camera detection in Frigate: NPU detection via RKNN (community-supported in Frigate).
