What drives work with a TerraMaster NAS?
Standard 3.5-inch SATA CMR NAS drives, plus SATA and M.2 SSDs on many models — TerraMaster imposes no branded-drive requirement. Use IronWolf, WD Red Plus/Pro, Toshiba N300 or enterprise CMR drives, check your model on TerraMaster's compatibility list, and avoid SMR drives in RAID. TerraMaster's TRAID also allows mixed drive sizes.

TerraMaster NAS units take standard SATA drives with no proprietary lock, the same as UGREEN. Any CMR NAS or enterprise drive is fair game.

TRAID: TerraMaster's flexible RAID
TerraMaster offers TRAID, its own flexible RAID that — like Synology's SHR — can use mixed drive sizes more efficiently than classic RAID and simplifies expansion. You can also use standard RAID levels if you prefer. Either way, populate it with CMR drives.
Verify and avoid SMR
Check your capacity on TerraMaster's compatibility list, and keep SMR drives out of RAID arrays. The table lists in-stock CMR drives by price per terabyte.
