What can the DH4300 Plus run?

On its ARM 8-core (Cortex-A76 and A55, 2.4 GHz) with 8 GB, the sweet spot is Pi-hole / AdGuard Home, Vaultwarden. It cannot run Frigate, Virtual machines.

Plex
Plex runs on the DH4300 Plus for direct-play only: the ARM 8-core (Cortex-A76 and A55, 2.4 GHz) is ARM with no hardware transcode. Keep your library in formats your TVs and phones already play, serve it over 1 × 2.5GbE, and it is a tidy little media box; ask it to convert 4K and it stalls.
Jellyfin
Jellyfin runs in a container on the DH4300 Plus, but with the ARM ARM 8-core (Cortex-A76 and A55, 2.4 GHz) it transcodes in software only. Lean on direct-play over 1 × 2.5GbE and it stays smooth.
Immich
Immich will install on the DH4300 Plus, but its face- and object-recognition leans on CPU the ARM 8-core (Cortex-A76 and A55, 2.4 GHz) cannot spare, and its 8 GB of soldered RAM (no upgrade path) does not help ML that is compute-bound. Indexing a real library is slow; an Intel model is the honest pick.
Home Assistant
Home Assistant Container runs happily in UGOS's Docker on the DH4300 Plus and barely touches the ARM 8-core (Cortex-A76 and A55, 2.4 GHz). The full HA OS wants a VM, which this model's 8 GB ceiling handles only lightly, so take the container path here.
Nextcloud
Nextcloud will run in Docker on the DH4300 Plus, but its database-and-PHP stack leans on the ARM 8-core (Cortex-A76 and A55, 2.4 GHz), so it feels sluggish under a few users. For a brisk private cloud, an Intel model serves it better.
Frigate
Frigate decodes every camera stream continuously and detects on each frame: work the DH4300 Plus's ARM 8-core (Cortex-A76 and A55, 2.4 GHz) cannot shoulder (ARM, no hardware acceleration). This is not the box for Frigate.
Pi-hole / AdGuard Home
The DH4300 Plus makes a fine home for Pi-hole or AdGuard Home: the container barely registers next to storage, and because the box is already on all day, it is a natural network-wide DNS blocker for everything on your 1 × 2.5GbE.
Paperless-ngx
Paperless-ngx runs in Docker on the DH4300 Plus, and its bursty OCR keeps the ARM 8-core (Cortex-A76 and A55, 2.4 GHz) busy: fine for a modest archive, slower on big scan batches. its 8 GB of soldered RAM (no upgrade path) caps how much you throw at it.
Vaultwarden
Run Vaultwarden on the DH4300 Plus and your passwords live on hardware you control: it is a tiny, Bitwarden-compatible vault that works with the official apps and browser extensions, using almost none of UGOS's resources.
Minecraft server
A Minecraft server starts on the DH4300 Plus, but the ARM 8-core (Cortex-A76 and A55, 2.4 GHz)'s weak single-thread speed shows the moment a few players load chunks, and its 8 GB of soldered RAM (no upgrade path) is tight once a world claims 4 GB. Fine for a tiny world only.
Docker (general)
The DH4300 Plus does run Docker under UGOS Pro, but on the ARM ARM 8-core (Cortex-A76 and A55, 2.4 GHz) containers are slower and some images are missing, and its 8 GB of soldered RAM (no upgrade path) caps the stack. Treat it as light container duty: a Pi-hole, not a wall of services.
Virtual machines
Virtual machines need x86 hardware virtualization; the DH4300 Plus's ARM 8-core (Cortex-A76 and A55, 2.4 GHz) is ARM, so it cannot run a VM at all. For a Windows or Linux guest you need an Intel or AMD model.
Surveillance recording
The DH4300 Plus runs UGREEN's native camera app for a handful of streams over 1 × 2.5GbE: enough for a home. Pair its 4 bays with surveillance-tuned drives (WD Purple, SkyHawk) for the constant 24/7 write load.
Time Machine / backup target
Backups are the DH4300 Plus's day job: it serves as a Time Machine and Windows/phone backup target over SMB, and its 1 × 2.5GbE link keeps whole-machine backups quick. Cap each user's quota so the 4 bays are not swallowed by old snapshots.
Local AI on the DH4300 Plus
Expect 3.0 to 4.9 tok/s from Llama 3.1 8B on the DH4300 Plus at a 4k conversation, which is usable but you will wait. The model takes 5.9 GB of the 6.0 GB left free in 8 GB, so it is a tight squeeze.
On the Rockchip RK3588C (8-core ARM) the processor, not only the memory, holds the chatbot back, so rather than a bandwidth formula we lean on what people have measured on this chip. Measured on the RK3588 (Turing Pi): Llama 3.2 3B at 11.25 tok/s in llama.cpp, Gemma 3 4B at 5 to 8 tok/s in Ollama.
The largest model we would run day to day on the DH4300 Plus is Qwen3 4B (5.3 to 8.5 tok/s). The memory is soldered, so the only real upgrade for local AI is a stronger box.
Two other AI jobs a NAS does: Frigate camera detection (NPU detection via RKNN (community-supported in Frigate)) and Immich photo search (NPU-accelerated through RKNN (a Rockchip SoC Immich supports)).
