Why is Synology QuickConnect not working?
Common causes: QuickConnect isn't enabled or the Synology Account isn't signed in, the NAS has no working internet connection or DNS, an outdated DSM, or a network blocking the relay. Re-enable QuickConnect in DSM, confirm the NAS is online with correct DNS/time, update DSM, and test the QuickConnect ID URL from outside your network.

QuickConnect is Synology's relay service that lets you reach your NAS remotely without configuring port forwarding. When it stops working, the cause is usually configuration or connectivity on the NAS side.
Work through these
- QuickConnect enabled and signed in. In DSM, Control Panel → External Access → QuickConnect: confirm it's enabled and your Synology Account is signed in, and note the QuickConnect ID.
- Internet, DNS and time. The NAS needs a working internet connection, valid DNS servers and correct system time — a wrong clock breaks the secure relay. Check these in Control Panel.
- Update DSM. An outdated DSM can break QuickConnect; install the current update.
- Test the URL. Try
quickconnect.to/<your-ID>from a phone on cellular data (outside your home network) to isolate whether it's the NAS or your local network. - Restrictive network. Some office/ISP networks block the relay; test from a different network.
Alternatives
QuickConnect is convenient but relayed. For better performance and control, Synology also documents DDNS with secured port forwarding and a VPN into your home network. Whichever you use, keep DSM patched, since remote access widens your attack surface.
Don't forget the storage
Remote access is about reaching the NAS; it doesn't protect the data on it. Make sure the array is healthy and backed up.
Fix the connection, then protect the data
Once you can reach the NAS again, make sure the storage underneath it is sound — the right drives, healthy and backed up.
